SuOn MUN Team Sets Out Again, Wins Best Delegate at Model United Nations Conference

 In English News

Under the educational philosophy of practicing all-round quality education, SuOn Academy hopes that students not only achieve excellent academic results but also enhance their extracurricular practical abilities. The Model United Nations conference is an excellent platform for such practice. Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations General Assembly and other multilateral organizations, serving as a civic education activity organized for young people. It can cultivate multiple comprehensive abilities in students, such as:

*Broadening Horizons: It helps students care about the world and think about and discuss issues from an international perspective.

*Stimulating Learning Potential: MUN is an experiential activity. Especially in English conferences, delegates immerse themselves in diplomatic scenarios and need to consciously and autonomously use English to express themselves. In such an environment, it greatly stimulates students’ enthusiasm for learning English.

*Cultivating Leadership Skills: MUN is a highly interactive learning experience. Young people can not only learn and discuss international affairs but also exercise their abilities in organization, planning, management, research and writing, public speaking and debating, conflict resolution, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and communicating with others. These abilities will benefit students for life.

Since its establishment, the SuOn MUN team has insisted on weekly intensive training and has hired top coaches to provide specialized guidance to the students. Recently, good news has arrived: In the global MUN competition held in Beijing in August, our student Katy Jin  won the Best Delegate Award, surpassing a large number of native English speakers. Student Alice Zhou was selected to become the Chair of a committee—a very important and influential position responsible for directing the committee’s work.

Let’s appreciate the wonderful moments of SuOn students during the competition:

In this MUN competition, students deeply realized that focusing only on their own academic performance is not enough; they also need to have a sense of responsibility and commitment to their nation, country, and even the world. MUN brings together young people of different races, countries, and skin colors on the same stage, allowing them to bravely express their ideas and proposals, adding infinite possibilities to building a safer and more stable world in the future. For high school students, such competition experiences and skill development will undoubtedly enable participants to stand out, giving them an advantage when entering university. We hope more students will join MUN activities to add opportunities and challenges to their high school life.
