SuOn won the overall regional team title in the 2023 CSMC/CIMC High School Math Competition!
The great news is here! SuOn’s students have achieved another success in CSMC/CIMC competition organized by the University of Waterloo! SuOn has 27 students on the top 25% of the global rankings of CSMC/CIMC.
Congratulations to the winners! Among them, Junbao Gao ranked 23rd in Ontario with his high level of performance, and was honored on the Waterloo High Score Honor Roll, winning a medal of excellence! SuOn Academy also won the regional championship with a high percentage of winners!
The results of the Waterloo Mathematics Competition are recognized worldwide and are a strong competitive edge for students applying to the world’s most prestigious universities. It is an important indicator for admission to Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo of various programs as well as Software Engineering, and has become an important criterion for students applying for scholarships at the Faculty of Mathematics.
Participating in the University of Waterloo’s Mathematics Competition is a traditional event at SuOn Academy, and every year many outstanding SuOn students have won Top 25% certificates in this competition!

The origin of the University of Waterloo Mathematics Competition (CSMC/CIMC):
The Canadian Senior/Intermediate Mathematics Competition is organized by the University of Waterloo, which was founded in 1957 and has been ranked in the top five consecutive years on Maclean`s (McLean) list, Canada`s most authoritative education magazine. The University of Waterloo has the only Faculty of Mathematics in Canada, which is the largest in North America and the world. The college has a variety of international popular programs such as Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Bioinformatics, Mathematics/Accounting, Mathematics/Business Administration, etc. The annual acceptance rate is about six percent.
